The BA wins first place in the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information initiative

The BA was declared winner of the first place as part of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information initiative that was launched to honor the libraries that were most interactive amidst the coronavirus crisis. The announcement was made by Dr. Hassan El Sereihy, President of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information.

Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that this achievement underscored the fact that the BA was the best library in the Arab world during the coronavirus crisis. He also highlighted the Library’s leading role since its inauguration in 2002, and how it maintained tis uniqueness over the years.

Dr. Amgad El Gohary, Head of the BA Library Sector, noted that the first prize won by the BA as part of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information initiative came as a result of the interactive services and activities offered by the BA to its public, from the onset of the coronavirus crisis until the present day.

With this win, the BA emphasizes its role as a beacon of knowledge, and underlines its position as the world’s window on Egypt, and Egypt’s window on the world. Its aim will always be the accessibility of knowledge under any conditions.

It is worth mentioning that the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information initiative witnessed a strong competition among eight Arab countries (Egypt, Oman, UAE, Algeria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Iraq). Twenty-five countries presented their reports in the first category, while ten libraries and educational centers presented theirs in the second category. The BA won the first place in the first category dedicated to public, university, and national libraries.
