The BA Sustainable Development Studies, Youth Capacity Building, and African Relations Support Program, in cooperation with the BA Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), organizes a series of webinars that tackle coronavirus and its effects from different angles, with an emphasis on the role of the fourth industrial revolution technology in the face of this pandemic, and the environmental aspects related to it.

The fourth webinar of this series will be held on Monday, 22 June 2020, at 4:00 pm, under the title “Coronavirus… A New Message from Nature.” The webinar will be inaugurated by Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, and delivered by Dr. Ayman Hamada, Supervisor of the Central Administration for Biodiversity at the Ministry of Environment. Engineer Samah Saleh, Head of the Sustainable Development Unit at the Ministry of Environment, will moderate the event.

The webinar will discuss the theories behind the origin of COVID-19, and the increasing negative effects of the unsustainable human practices that led to a state of unprecedented deterioration of natural resources and the loss of biodiversity. It will also highlight the relation between the aforementioned issues with the outbreak of several new epidemics that emanate from animal sources.

It is worth mentioning that this event is taking place online, in line with the precautionary measures taken by the government to prevent the spread of coronavirus, and will be aired live on the official Facebook page of the Sustainable Development Studies Program: www.facebook.com/SDSP.BA
