Posted on

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina organizes a webinar entitled “Muslims’ Use of Printing: The Problems and Selection Approach” on Monday, 29 March 2021, at 11:00 am. It will be delivered by Dr. Hussein Suleiman, Head of the Academic Studies Section at the BA Manuscripts Center.

The lecture will examine the emergence of book printing in Europe by Johannes Gutenberg in the fifteenth century, which allowed the Europeans to become the most prolific disseminators of culture and knowledge. It will also highlight selections of particular works that were published after the use of printing in the Islamic world, and which were distinctly reflected in the early intellectual renaissance of this region in the nineteenth century.

It is worth mentioning that this lecture is the fifth in a series of events presented by the Manuscripts Center titled “Arab and Islamic Heritage”, which explores the different aspects in which Arabs and Muslims most excelled.

All events are broadcast through the Manuscripts Center website.
