“Marriage Contracts in Ptolemaic Egypt” in a Webinar at the BA

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with the Archaeology and Civilization Department, Faculty of Arts, Helwan University, organizes a webinar titled “Marriage Contracts in Ptolemaic Egypt”. It will be delivered by Dr. Mahmoud Labib El-Bokl, Lecturer of Ancient Egyptian Language, Department of Archaeology and Civilization, Faculty of Arts, Helwan University, and will be held on Tuesday, 31 August 2021, at 7:30 pm, through the BA Antiquities Museum’s Facebook page:

The lecture will shed light on marriage contracts and their clauses and obligations during the Ptolemaic period, which contributed significantly to the understanding of the nature of marriage in ancient Egypt. It will also present four new unpublished marriage contracts from Middle Egypt, which comprise several important and interesting details.
