Posted on

Alexandria— The BA will organize a lecture on Sunday, 24 June 2007, entitled "My Book: Digital and Printed", as part of the YESBU (Youth for Environmental Sustainability and Better Understanding) program.

Dr. Salah Soliman, Professor, Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University, will give the lecture, in which he will discuss the dual concept of knowledge sources, and the possibility of transforming a text from the electronic form to the printed one and bind it in the form of a book and visa versa. The lecture is an attempt to change our perception of the traditional sources of knowledge.

The lecture also tackles the pioneer project adopted by the BA, in cooperation with the Internet Archive (IA), and the Egyptian Ministry of Education. The project was implemented at the beginning at the BA Children's Library, then the projects implementation scope was extended, through "Bookmobile" (a mobile library) to reach out to school students, especially in the distracts, where children are deprived from the use of computers. The project is a transformation in the Egyptian educational system.

The lecture will start at 9:00 hrs. at the BA Lectures Hall.
