Revival of Islamic Heritage in Cairo Salon

Alexandria— Cairo Salon TV Show, presented by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, devotes two episodes on the revival of Islamic heritage. The first part will be aired on Channel One on Friday, 22 January 2010, at 8:00 pm.

Dr. Serageldin will host Dr. Mohamed Kamal El-Din Emam, Head of Islamic Shari’a Department, Faculty of Law, Alexandria University; Dr. Ibrahim Bayoumi Ghanem, Professor of Political Science, National Center for Social Research; and Dr. Zeinab El-Khodiry, Professor at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University.

The episode tackles “Re-issuing the Classics”, a project aiming to publish selections from the Islamic reform thought, and to introduce most prominent thinkers from the 19th and 20th centuries (13th and 14th Hijri centuries) to the young generations.
