The Sharjah International Book Fair/American Library Association (ALA) Library Conference, in its 4th edition, will be held at the Expo Center in Sharjah, UAE, 7–9 November 2017, during the 36th Sharjah International Book Fair.

The Conference this year will be inaugurated by the speeches of both Jim Neal, ALA President; and Khaled Elhalaby, Arab Federation for Libraries and Information (AFLI) President. The Conference is an attraction to expertise from the librarianship community in the Arab region and all over the globe.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), represented in the Arabic Library Standards, will have a contribution in the Poster Session that will take place on Wednesday, 8 November, on the margin of the Conference. The Poster that will be represented by Gina Younis, Director of Innovation, Research and Technology Department; and Rania Osman, Head of Libraries of the Future Section at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, is entitled Disseminating International Library Standards in Arabic.

It is worth mentioning that the Conference’s first edition took place in 2013; a fruit of the collaboration between the Sharjah International Book Fair—now part of the Sharjah Book Authority—and the American Library Association. The Conference offers programs on a wide range of topics for librarians from academic, governmental, public and special libraries, offering them an ample opportunity to network with fellow librarians from across the region to share their latest trends, not to mention the Book Fair through which book industry leaders can develop robust relationships around the world.
