The White Cane Safety Day 2011

The BA Taha Hussein Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired, in cooperation with UNESCO, holds the International White Cane Safety Day on Thursday, 13 October 2011.
 

The celebration presents the training course “Mobility Using the White Cane” which highlights the cane’s importance in the daily life of the visually impaired.
 

This year’s International White Cane Safety Day witnesses the opening of the third phase of Taha Hussein Library after the latest assistive technology for the Blind supplied by UNESCO.
 

The International White Cane Day is a global event celebrated every year by the blind and visually impaired. Taha Hussein library, took the lead in holding this celebration for the first time in Egypt to demonstrate the rights of the blind and visually impaired, to raise their awareness as to how and why use the cane, and to rally support of the concerned parties for blind pedestrians.
 

The event starts at 10:00 am at the BACC Great Hall.
