The BA Celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Late President Gamal Abdel Nasser

Dr. Mostafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, stated that the Library of Alexandria is celebrating the 100th anniversary of late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, as part of the Memory of Modern Egypt Project activities and in cooperation with Dr. Hoda Abdel Nasser and Gamal Abdel Nasser Foundation, on Tuesday 24 July 2018, at 11:00 am at the BA Conference Center Small Theater.

The event comes in line with the BA efforts to document late President Gamal Abdel Nasser’s era, on the occasion of the passage of 100 years since his birth. Dr. Mostafa Elfeki and Dr. Hoda Gamal Abdel Nasser will give a speech in the inaugural session.

The event features a documentary on Gamal Abdel Nasser, produced by the Library of Alexandria. The documentary takes account of the different phases of the late President’s life starting from his birth in 1918 and his education until he joined the Military College in 1936. It sheds lights on the Palestine War in 1948, the Free Officers’ Movement, July 1952 Revolution, and Gamal Abdel Nasser’s tenure in 1956. The documentary also touches upon the Tripartite Aggression on Egypt in 1956, the Nationalization of Suez Canal, funding the establishment of the High Dam, 1967 War, and his death in 1970.
