The BA Women Studies and Social Transformation (WSST) Program organizes a webinar entitled “The National Strategy for Combating Violence against Women” on Thursday, 10 December 2020, at 1:00 pm. The event is part of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) initiative, and coincides with the end of the 16-day campaign to fight violence against women.

This webinar aims to demonstrate the new strategy adopted by Egypt to combat violence against women, which was drafted by the National Council for Women, in cooperation with all the governmental and non-governmental entities. A group of specialized Egyptian and Arab experts in women’s issues are expected to take part in the event.

It is worth mentioning that the National Strategy for Combatting Violence against Women intends to guarantee the coordination of efforts to reduce the rates of domestic and societal violence against girls and women. It is also geared towards rehabilitating the victims to protect them from the negative feelings of isolation and exclusion, and help achieve security and stability in society.
