Students of the BA Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF) 2021 garnered a number of international awards at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in the US, which was held remotely from 16 to 21 May 2021.

Students Gasser Mohamed Galal and Mostafa Ahmed Abdel Mohaymen (Alexandria) won a special award in software from the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence in the US, for their project “Using the Vision of Computers and Machine Learning Systems in the Development of an Algorithm that Could Help the Physically Disabled with Smart Systems and Machines.”

Additionally, student Fatma Ali El-Banna (Alexandria) won the fourth place internationally in the field of biochemistry, for her project “The Extraction of Moringa Seeds in the Purification of Wastewater for the Purposes of Agriculture and Green Energy Production”, while student Omar Walid El-Beheiry (Damietta) won the fourth place internationally in environmental engineering, for his project “An Apparatus for Detecting Water Pollution.”

In this respect, the BA hails the constructive role of its successful partners: the Ministry of Education and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

It is worth mentioning that Regeneron ISEF is the ultimate international competition in the field of science, at the pre-university level. It grants more than 1700 students around the world the opportunity to gather, share ideas, and showcase advanced scientific projects, in addition to competing for academic scholarships and scientific trips. The competition also allows students to meet and discuss their projects with international scientists and Nobel Prize laureates.
