“New Media: Professional and Social Challenges” in a Seminar at the BA
The BA Center for Strategic Studies organizes a seminar entitled “New Media: Professional and Social Challenges”, on Wednesday, 31 May 2023, at 12:00 pm, in the BACC Delegates Hall.
The seminar seeks to answer questions related to the achievement of social and moral responsibility towards rationalizing citizens’ use of social media websites, which have become a tool for spreading rumors and fake news. It also aims to discuss how the efficiency of practical training and capacity building for media students and professionals could be raised, in order to keep pace with the successive revolutions in communication technology. In addition, the seminar will examine how new media has penetrated the private lives of citizens and families, and will highlight the optimal mechanisms for employing it in the presentation and marketing of innovative individual and social initiatives in Egyptian society.
A group of prominent media figures will participate in the seminar, including Prof. Sami Abdel Aziz, former Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University; Egyptian television’s news anchor Dr. Mohamed Abdu; and Prof. Saeed Al-Masry, Professor of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, and former Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Culture. It will be moderated by the esteemed Inas Gohar, former Head of the Egyptian Radio and one of Egypt’s media icons.
