Al Fakhoora Campaign was established in 2009 to support Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. It is a non-profit organization that develops programs in partnership with other parties. The campaign has a scholarship program, rehabilitation of educational institutions program, psychosocial support program, disabilities program and vocational training program.
Support to Higher Education
The campaign funds different higher education programs, undergraduate and graduate scholarships, rehabilitation and reconstruction of educational institutions and vocational training in the Gaza Strip.
Type of Support
The campaign offers the following scholarships for the Gaza Strip students:
• 100 undergraduate scholarships annually for the Gaza Strip students in local universities.
• 10 graduate scholarships for the Gaza Strip students in UK universities and other countries to be decided by the management annually.
Duration of Support
Masters degree students: 1-2 years depending on the program
Undergraduates: 2-4 years (diploma and bachelor’s degree)
Eligibility Criteria
Al Fakhoora Campaign does not have fixed criteria, however for 2013-2014 masters degree scholarship candidates from all fields must:
- Have a score not less than 75%.
- Be registered or will be registered at a UK university.
- Have a TOEFL minimum score of 530 as a preliminary requirement.
- Fill an application that contains the thesis statement.
- Be in financial need.
Application Procedures
The application is announced locally every year in January. Only students who meet the above criteria will be considered. Applications will be evaluated against the thesis statement. Applicants will then be shortlisted and invited for interviews.
