Authority Control

The course focuses on the importance of authority control, creating an authority file, and its supporting rules, as well as the basics of applications using electronic cataloging through “MARC 21” standards. The course will include lectures and practical exercises on how to form entries and cross references, types of authority files, and how to create each type, such as authority file for names, entities, geographical names, and subject headings.
