Presentation Abstract:
"From 1991 to 2002, Experimentarium was a classical
science centre with 6.000 m2 exhibitions, of which 1.200
m2 occupied two temporary exhibition halls. In 2002, we
decided to introduce a new strategy bringing
Experimentarium from an exhibition institution to a
multimedial science communication institution. Since 2002
we have exercised a lot of different science communication
activities which can be stratified in the following
categories: School activities (teaching material to the
exhibitions, school competitions, consensus conferences,
power point lectures, school events (robots, champignons,
soap bubbles etc.) and school-in-residence at the
Experimentarium). Developing new teaching methods (Xciters
project and Xperiment project). Developing new teaching
materials (web based). Courses in science communication
(teachers, students and journalistst). News in science
research (national science research portal). TV-production
of science news. Research in science communication. All
this is now taking place everey day in the Experimentarium
creating a lot of synergy between the different
departments and projects."
