Cloud Shadows over the Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Shortly before sunset, on 13 November 2007, there were beautiful patterns of scattered clouds over the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. BA Senior Astronomy Specialist Aymen Ibrahem captured interesting images of the fascinating cloud shadows and crepuscular rays that glimmered in the sky.
Crepuscular rays, also known as Sunrays, are rays of sunlight that beam through breaks or gaps in the clouds. They seem to radiate from a single spot, where the Sun shines. Cloud shadows are usually visible as dark cones between the crepuscular rays. Crepuscular rays and cloud shadows are among the most beautiful optical atmospheric phenomena.
While the clouds were drifting, Ibrahem captured several images of the patterns of Sunrays and cloud shadows, with the Library's artful statue of Prometheus in the foreground.
