Akissa BAHRI is an agricultural engineer with Ph.D degrees from France and from Sweden. She has worked in the field of agricultural use of marginal waters (brackish and waste water), sewage sludge and their impacts on the environment. She has been working for the National Research Institute for Agricultural Engineering, Water and Forestry in her home country Tunisia, where she was in charge of research management in the field of agricultural water use. She has been involved in policy and legislative issues regarding water reuse and land application of sewage sludge, and is a member of different international scientific committees. She has joined in 2005 the International Water Management Institute as Director for Africa. She has received international honors, including being elected in 2000 to the International Water Academy and in 2003 to the Third World Academy of Sciences.
