  Dr. Essa Al-Ghazali, a Kuwaiti national, is the Director General of The Arab Planning Institute (API) (an Arab Regional Organization - Kuwait) since October 1996. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from Exeter University (United Kingdom, 1989), and a Master Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California (USA, 1984).Before becoming API’s Director General, Dr. Al-Ghazali was the Under Secretary of The Coordination and Follow Up Committee in the Kuwaiti Council of Ministers (1992-1996). Prior to that he served as a Teaching Assistant and a Lecturer in the Faculty of Administrative Sciences in Kuwait University (1983-1992). In recognition for his services to building human capital in the Arab Countries Dr. Al-Ghazali was honored with Legion of Independence (second degree), awarded by His Majesty King Abdullah the Second, King of Jordan in 2001. Dr. Al-Ghazali is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS, Belgium) since 1998, and a member of the American Society for Quality Control (USA) since 1992. His main areas of interests are in the fields of Public Administration, Organizational Development, Human Resources Development.
