Professor Magdy Madkour obtained his PhD from the University of Wales, UK, in Physiological Plant Pathology as his area of specialization. His major field of expertise is in Plant Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering. He was a Visiting Professor at Plant Growth Laboratory, Department of Agronomy and Range Science, University of California, Davis, California, USA. (1989-1990) , He also served as the Director of Agricultural Genetic Engineering Research Institute (AGERI), Agricultural Research Center (ARC0 Ministry of Agriculture & Land Reclamation (MOALR) Egypt. (1990- 2001), President of Agricultural Research Center (ARC), Giza, Egypt. (May 2003-August 2004). , supervisor of Agricultural Genetic Engineering Research Institute (AGERI). (Nov 2001-May 2003) and Assistant Director General for International Cooperation at the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) (October 2004 –October 2006). He is the Member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) , the International Society for Molecular Plant-Microbe Interaction, (IS-MPMI), the International Society for Plant Molecular Biology (ISPMB), also a Member of the BIO (Biotechnology Industry Organization), the Egyptian Phytopathological Society (EPS) and of the Governing Board of the Egyptian Society of Applied Microbiology
He was awarded several awards such as Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) Award for Scientific Excellence (1999),FAO world Food Day Award (2001) and two Awards from Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) for Scientific Innovation (2003). Two patents were issued in his name in 1996 (EPO) and 1999 (USA Patent Office) for Novel Bt isolates for insect biological control. Prof. Dr. Magdy Madkour attended numerous Conferences, Symposia and International Meetings.
Authored and coauthored 137 scientific publications in International, Regional and National Journals. He Contributed chapters in 7 Text books published internationally.
