Abstract: This paper analyses data and information about past EU Aid for Trade (AfT) funding with relation to small producers. This is done looking specifically at four donors, the United Kingdom (UK), Belgium (BE), the Netherlands (NL) and the European Commission (EC) in the context of the EU’s strategy on Aid for Trade and looking at six case studies of AfT projects funded by these donors. These donor countries were chosen because they have been active within the EU in regards to AfT commitments and inputting into the EU AfT joint Strategy. The paper also provides a brief overview of the history of Aid for Trade and examines what small producers in poor countries would want this money to be spent on and what programmes could possibly be utilized to realise these demands.
