Simply put, Research is a systematic
approach to answering a burning question. Researchers are people who are interested in
answering questions with answers that can be built upon by others to answer other burning
questions. This is how a body of knowledge is developed within any academic discipline.
Professionals add their contributions to each other’s works. In theory, this is how Research should work, but in reality, there are many factors researchers learn along the way. For example, researchers need to make a living, and research projects have to be funded by sponsors that dictate research agendas. Burning questions for researchers may not be considered important by potential sponsors. Additionally, there are ethical issues surrounding human experimentation, and then there is always the behaviors of the study subjects. Nevertheless, Research is still the most honorable of professions, and researchers the most driven. Without their dedication, bodies of knowledge would be out of shape and useless. |
