Biography:
Farida Allaghi is the senior advisor to HRH Prince Talal Bin Abdulazez Al Saud, president of the Arab Gulf Program for the United Nations Development Organizations in Saudi Arabia. She is also a freelance regional and international consultant in the areas of civil society, human rights, democracy, public policy and advocacy, women’s issues, and youth. From 2001 to 2002, Dr. Allaghi served as executive director of the Mentor Foundation, an international NGO that focuses on the prevention of drug misuse among young people, and the promotion of their health and well-being. From 1984 to 2000, Dr. Allaghi was director of the Woman and Child Division of the Arab Gulf Program. She served as the general coordinator for the Arab Council for Children from 1991 to 1996, and the general coordinator for the Arab Network for Civil Society from 1990 to 1997. Dr. Allaghi is a contributing editor to the United Nation’s Arab Human Development Report. She received a Ph.D. in sociology from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, USA.
