Our Objectives

  1. To establish a network of all key stakeholders of diabetes in the entire MENA Region that will allow the contact and the exchange of diabetes knowledge.
  2. To collect and distribute the best lectures in the area of diabetes prevention in the MENA region.

    The Supercourse represents a library of the top quality lectures about diabetes that are collected from the world’s leading experts on diabetes. A Middle East Website will be built to contain the top 400 PowerPoint lectures, with various Mirror Sites also being created. These lectures will be made available for free on our website and distributed on DVDs to the MENA region. Furthermore, a selected number of lectures will be translated into Arabic to broaden outreach to the public and Science teachers, in collaboration with NGOs, and the science center at the BA. Once the network is being formed a team of experts from Pittsburgh University will extract the best possible lectures from the network on various aspects of the epidemiology and control of Diabetes.
  1. To enhance the network of diabetes researchers and contributors to the Supercourse in the MENA Region while benefiting from the experience of the international key players, with more members joining the network and stimulating more lectures' development and sharing. The focus of the course at the BA will be the translation of research for the prevention of diabetes and its complications. It will focus on many different topics, the growing burden of diabetes in the Middle East, complications of diabetes, smoking and health, Statistics, prevention and control.

  2. To have the Diabetes Supercourse serve as a model for Supercourses for other diseases.

  3. To develop a two-week training course for young researchers/health professionals in the Middle East on the Epidemiology of Diabetes. The target of the course at the BA will be the translation of research for the prevention of diabetes and its complications. It will focus on many different topics, the growing burden of diabetes in the Middle East, complications of diabetes, smoking and health, statistics, etc.

Diabetes Supercourse will represent an excellent open source of information on diabetes self-management and prevention for the diabetic patients for the entire MENA Region, and will benefit greatly from the co-operation and enthusiasm of diabetes experts of the region.
