As mentioned in the PID introduction, PID is associated with reproductive morbidity.

Given the fact that M. genitalium is associated with PID, it is then possible that M. genitalium may also be associated with infertility. A few lines of evidence support this possibility.

First, M. genitalium has been found to adhere to human sperm in vitro, and this may allow M. genitalium to be carried to the female upper genital tract on motile sperm.
