The world's population approaches 6.1 billion, and rapid increase in the population will challenges the health care system in developing and developed countries. Falls and their consequences, fractures, are serious problems among older population in worldwide. The aim of lecture is to address the risk of falls and to identify the risk factors and mechanisms of fall. Also, the brief examples of intervention and prevention programs will be discussed.

Fortunately, I had an opportunity to join the Women's Speakers Bureau in the department of Epidemiology. As a member, I developed this lecture, "Fall and Fractures in the elderly" toward lay audiences at the Senior Centers around Pittsburgh, U.S.A. Currently, I'm enrolled in doctorate program under excellent advisor and mentor, Dr.Jane Cauley, at University of Pittsburgh.
