Incidence in Granada is similar to incidence in other Spanish cancer registries which have medium-low rates world-wide. However, there is a wide geographical variation in rates. Incidence in the countries with the highest rates (Australia for males and New Zealand for females) is 10 times greater than Granada’s incidence.

Incidence dissimilarities between areas within a country or between different countries, as well as temporary variations of rates, indicate the existence of a diverse array of risk factors in the studied populations and their exposure to these factors throughout the different stages of life [13].
