IFLA Center for Arabic Speaking Libraries (IFLA-CASL) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) is organizing an IFLA-BA Annual Conference to be held during the time of Cairo International Book Fair that is held usually end of January to mid-February every year. The Conference main theme is “Publishing Concerns and its impact on the Arab World”, with a different sub-theme every year like for example, E–Publishing and E–Resources, Printed Books, Cultural Heritage and Documentation Preservation, Copyright Laws, Open Access, etc. The Conference will tackle many issues of high interest to the publishing and information sector in the Arab world, and will offer an international perspective and experience that would help improve and increase the Arabic contribution in this field. Amongst the Conference’s main focus areas will be: the impact of technology on publishing and on the information market, challenges facing the field, e–resources and open access, copyright laws, quantity and quality of the Arabic content, scientific resources, etc.

The Conference will offer library professionals from across the world a platform to share their experiences, engage in publishing–related discussions, and be exposed to and discuss the latest techniques in the field.

The Theme of 2019 is Publishing Economy in the Arab Region and the conference will be held on 4 and 5 February at the BA conference center.
