Dr. AlMomin is Research Scientist in Biotechnology and genetic Engineering at Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research. She has obtained her Ph.D. from University of Surrey, UK. She is the Vice President for the Arab Region(AREP) and elected fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and a member of the Organization of Women in Science for the Developing countries (OWSD). AlMomin is an IFBA certified in Biorisk management. She has lead several pioneer research projects in molecular diagnostics, embryo transfer and cloning in animals, diagnostics, germplasm management of marine species, and algae bioproducts. She has lead an ambitious project to establish a National Centre of Genetic Engineering and biotechnology. She is an active member of several national and international committees in areas of biodiversity, women in STEM, biosafety and biosecurity. She is also the Kuwait Liaison Officer for the International Centre of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB).
