The first appearance of the inscription of the Nubia region dates back to the pre-dynastic period and shows a king wearing the crown of Upper Egypt, then another scene from the dynastic period from Jebel Sheikh Suleiman of a king leading the first campaign against Nubia. The importance of Nubia increased during the following eras, so that the Old Kingdom was characterized as the era of sending expeditions, most notably those that were led by Harkhuf.
The Middle Kingdom, was the era of the exploitation of stones, such as granite and diorite, in addition to metals and gold. In the New Kingdom, the Egyptian army depended on the Nubians, and the title “Viceroy of Kush” appeared for the first time. The influence of the Nubia augmented till the appearance of the 25th Dynasty, known as the Nubian Dynasty. It is worth mentioning that the last demotic inscription was found in Philae in Nubia.
