He also contributed with a very important article titled “Early Writing in Ancient Egypt”, as part of the book titled “Journey of Writing in Egypt” published by the BA. Professor Dreyer also participated in a documentary film on the same project, shedding light in his speech on the tomb of a predynastic ruler at Umm el-Qa’ab/Abydos (tomb U-j) and the discovery of the ivory labels that bear evidence of writing dating back to ca. 3000 BC. He stressed that the discovery of tomb U-j was of special importance concerning understanding the origin of writing.
