Science Supercourse (SSC) represents an extended scope to the initial Global Health Network Supercourse project, which is a global repository of lectures on public health and prevention, housed at the University of Pittsburgh WHO Collaborating Centre and mirrored at Bibliotheca Alexandrina. SSC comprises more than 166,000 PowerPoint lectures covering four major fields of science: Public Health, Agriculture, Computer Engineering, and Environment. It aims to network scientists and improve information sharing among students, professionals and educators around the world through sharing free online accessible PowerPoint lectures.
SSC is based on involving the community and encouraging professors and experts to participate by adding their own lectures to assist students and teachers worldwide. It also offers a variety of advanced, personalized and interactive functionalities with convenient user access and an efficient retrieval system, where any user can browse through the full repository of scientific lectures and carry out different types of search. Moreover, registered users have more advanced privileges, such as creating their own library of favorite lectures; creating their own presentations by compiling slides from different lectures; having a list of their bookmarked slides; in addition to receiving email notifications of the updates of recently added lectures according to their preferences.
