Private-Government-Academia: Triangle Leadership in a Bio-intelligent Agriculture

The application of new knowledge from science-related platforms as informatics, biochemistry, biology and agronomy, are leading a dynamic revolution in social and economics development in many Latin American countries. The new emerging technologies and economic opportunities coming from the increased demand of agriculture products, are making an evolution in the regional agriculture production to a new one, which is more involved with good agriculture practices, and the characteristic of being social inclusive and environmentally sustainable. In this new model, the agriculture sector reconverts itself from being a “receiving sector” to a “generating sector” of intelligence and innovation. The biotechnology contributes to the incorporation of knowledge in this new time and it is defined as an important tool to support new strategies of Development. The Private-Government-Academia partnerships are flourishing in the region, following the agreement that the domain in this area of the knowledge has already proven to improve the progress of their communities. The vision of to consolidate existing clusters or to development new integrated competitive bio-intelligent ones, is a special result of these convergence process. This is not only related with economic and sustainable issues, it has the paramount importance of giving to the local communities the sense that it is possible to design and to contribute to a more prosperous future.
