  Abstract

Solidarity and Subsidiarity between Academic Sciences and Business to improve Prosperity and Health “From Coexistence to Conviviality "

The Observed Problem: Academic Sciences and Business form two silos: The knowledge generated by academic scientists frequently is not directly actionable for business, and the needs of businesses frequently are not understood by academic scientists. The consequence: The independent maximization of the benefits for Academic Sciences and Business sub-optimizes the generation of benefits for the Community. To increase the Prosperity and Health of the Community we propose a conviviality option to: Build a bridge between the cultures and languages of Academic Sciences and Business. And obtain the commitment of Sciences and Business to purposefully together add value to the “common good” of the Community. The “social responsibility contract:” • In this conviviality context, Academic Scientists can accelerate the rate of useful scientific discoveries while realizing greater economic rewards. At the same time, Businesses can accelerate the pace of innovation and the speed for bringing new products and services to market, while increasing both corporate and the community’s social and economic profits. • With the sharing of this “social responsibility contract,” a self regulating mechanism is created. Today the Supercourse is moving one step further in NCD in Healthcare addressing two questions: 1. How to reduce the gap between the “promise” and the “practice” and 2. How to deliver these “technologically available” healthcare services to communities who are unable to pay for them? The value proposition of the Supercourse is to: Create a Just-in-Time worldwide Marketplace that accelerates the flow of innovation in Healthcare for the “common good” of the Community. The Supercourse helps the Community to evolve from the coexistence of Academic Sciences and Business to the conviviality of economic profits and social benefits.
