North and South - Phase I (Alexandria)

Within the framework of the program Support to Cultural Diversity and Creativity in Egypt, “North and South” launched its journey on the 20th of February 2015 in Alexandria, where participants spent 3 days. Participants attended their first gathering with the project organizers on Friday the 20th of February, where they were introduced to the program by Engr. Gamal Hosni. The first day also witnessed the distribution of materials and bags, acquainting participants with instructions of the trip and the signing of contracts.

On Saturday, the 21st of February, participants conducted a number of visits to important cultural establishments in Alexandria including; Alexandria National Museum, the Cavafy Museum and Alexandria Opera House (Sayed Darwish theater).Participants also attended a lecture by Dr. Rageh Dawood on Shadi Abdel-Salam film (Afaq) at the Conference Center in Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

The final day of the Phase I was devoted to visiting the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The visit covered the Planetarium, the BA Tour, the Mohamed Awad Museum, the Manuscripts Museum, the Sadat Museum, Culturama, the Antiquities Museum and the 12 Permanent Exhibitions. The day was concluded with attending a lecture by Dr. Wassim El-Sisi on “The Misconceptions about the Ancient Egyptian Civilization” at Conference Center in Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
