Support to Cultural Diversity and Creativity in Egypt is one of the programs orchestrated by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), and co-funded by the European Union. The program mainly aims to reinforce grounds for the development of the cultural sector in Egypt including an increased access to culture, the promotion and protection of the diversity of cultural expressions, following the UNESCO 2005 Convention on the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions, to which both Egypt and the European Union are parties, with a particular focus on contemporary arts and the creative sector.
The program builds upon the experience and knowledge of the BA and reinforces its role as an independent institution supporting national efforts in the field of culture. Basing its vision upon three main pillars and through a variety of activities prepared for the program, the BA seeks to use the rich cultural heritage of Egypt and human capital to benefit from arts and culture as a strong support element to the development of the country, and to promote artistic and cultural education.
