Cultural Debates

A Vision for an Egyptian Cultural Policy

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) holds several cultural debates and aims to create a think-tank consisting of young and senior intellectuals, cultural operators, artists, ministry officials and public authorities amongst others, to assess the current cultural situation, the main players in the country and the challenges to be addressed. The participants will engage in a structured dialogue to make recommendations on drafting a national cultural policy to be presented to the concerned Egyptian authorities for discussion and adoption.

These debates include twelve periodical working meetings, to discuss and draft a national cultural policy for Egypt. The BA will also organize four bi-annual workshops, where experts and policy makers will be invited for debates and brainstorming. A final workshop for final review and discussion of the produced draft will also be conducted.
