The BA Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies organizes a workshop entitled “The Role of UNESCO in the Preservation of Underwater Cultural Heritage in Egypt” on Thursday, 7 November 2019. The event is held in collaboration with the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture at the Ministry of Higher Education, the Underwater Antiquities Center at Alexandria University, the UNESCO Office in Cairo, and the Ministry of Antiquities.
The workshop tackles the role of UNESCO in the preservation of underwater cultural heritage. This role has been played by the organization since the sixties and was developed over the years to include several workshops and conferences that aim to highlight the importance of underwater cultural heritage and the ways of introducing this type of heritage in Egypt.
