Objective: Introduce the importance of inscriptions and papyrus, which are considered one of the most important sources of documentation and enable the student to translate and analyze it.

Content: The course provides students with several sources for documenting the Hellenistic era, such as inscriptions and papyrus, as these sources provide us with important information that is not compared to other historical sources. Student  will study research methods in this type of source and extract information from it. Student also studies the inscriptions recorded on the temples’ walls, statues’ bases, and ornamental tools. Student divides the inscription, corrects it, translates and comments on it. As for papyrus, it is divided into literary and documentary. Student analyzes aspects of social and economic life by studying marriage, buying and selling contracts, and administrative orders and decrees.
