Dr Yasmine Motawy

Biography

A translator, reviewer, scholar, and editor for children’s literature; Yasmine's doctoral and post-doctoral research has been on ideology in Arab children's media and literature. She has taught courses in discourse and power, creativity, freshman writing/seminar, and writing for children through service learning at the Department of Rhetoric and Composition at the American University in Cairo. In previous lives, Yasmine worked in the corporate world and trained for three years to be a member of the Lakeland College of Homeopathy.

Yasmine has been involved in the promotion of reading in the Arab world and the revival of the Egyptian section of IBBY in 2012, and is serving on the 2016 Hans Christian Andersen Award Jury.
