The BA Adopts "Science Across the World" Program

Alexandria— in response to the Egyptian Education Initiative under the auspices of H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, the Arab Environment Association, in cooperation with the BA Planetarium Science Center (PSC) launched "Scientists for Tomorrow" project.
Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, adopted the project and devoted a highly equipped area at the BA for the implementation of the Science Across the World (SAW) program, which addresses scientific and environmental issues challenging the world.
Magdi El-Sharkawy, Chairman of the Arab Environment Association, stated that the association targets important issues, including water, environment, conservation and development of limited resources, and dissemination of science and knowledge. The SAW program is the first of its kind in Egypt targeting students to prepare a new generation of qualified scientists for the future.
The association in cooperation with the PSC will organize a competition on the occasion of the Global Water Day Celebration under the slogan "Water for Life" on 22 March 2007. The competition encourages students to use their artistic and literary skills to express their role and the role of the society at large in dealing with the problem of water scarcity.
The best ten woks for each age group will be presented as part of the celebration. All participants will be given certificates of appreciation, in addition to prizes awarded for the students who presented the best three works and their schools.
