Alexandria— As part of the BA's fifth anniversary celebrations, the BA will host "1000 Peace Women" exhibition on Wednesday, 24 October 2007. The exhibition is a joint project between the BA and the Swiss Embassy which takes part in preparing and financing the exhibition.

The opening of the exhibition will be followed by two sessions, the first is entitled "Where we are?" and the second "Where we should go?" (as women contributing in peace). The speakers are Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the BA, Dr. Iman El Kaffas, Dr. Mohsen Youssef, Director of the BA Dialogue Forum, Dr. Sahar Sallab, Dr. Anissa Hassuna, Mrs. Nada Thabet, and three members in "the 1000 Peace Women".

It is worth mentioning that the exhibition celebrates the 2005 historic nomination, which was made to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee. It was a collective nomination of 1000 women peace builders working in different fields for peace and social justice. The initiative was launched by Dr Ruth-Gaby Vermot-Mangold, member of the Swiss Parliament and a member of the Council of Europe, through ‘Association 1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005" to highlight women’s untiring efforts in the pursuit of peace. The nomination came from different countries: India, China, Brazil, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. The list of nominees contained women from the Arab world, including Mrs. Bahia El Hariri, Member of the Lebanese Parliament and Shaikha Lulwa Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, the President of the Children and Mothers Welfare Society in Bahrain.

The exhibition will be inaugurated at 10:00 hrs. at the BA Conference Center, Multipurpose Hall.
