Serageldin Participates in the “Expanding the Role of Women in Cross-Cultural Dialogue” Forum in Azerbaijan

Alexandria— Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, participated in the international Forum entitled “Expanding the Role of Women in Cross-Cultural Dialogue”, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, 10-11 June 2008.

The Forum was organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation under the auspices of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation is a non-governmental organization, officially inaugurated on 10 May, 2004. The Foundation has sought to achieve several objectives, mainly preparing and activating scientific, cultural, health, environmental and sports programs and supporting scientific research, in addition to the cooperation with other educational institutions within the Republic of Azerbaijan and abroad.

The Foundation holds a series of workshops and seminars on pressing issues in Azerbaijan and abroad and organizes exhibitions of some young talented artists, with a focus on promoting religious tolerance.
