“The Culture of Science From an Egyptian Perspective” in a Seminar at the BA

Alexandria— The BA Dialogue Forum is organizing on Saturday, 10 January 2009 a seminar entitled “The Culture of Science From an Egyptian Perspective” . It will host Dr. Ahmed Shawky Hassan, Professors of Genetics, Zaqaziq University, and moderated by Dr. Salah Soliman, Advisor to the BA Director.

Dr. Hassan will speak about the culture of science in Egypt nowadays and some of its negative aspects, such as its marginalization in media, the overlap between religion and science, in addition to superstition and false science. Dr. Hassan will also shed lights on risks resulting from these problems, such as the absence of a strategic vision and dealing with science as mere decoration. He will eventually discuss number of ideas to promote the culture of science.

It is worth mentioning that the Dialogue Forum holds two seminars monthly tackling different areas of knowledge and science, and hosting senior Arab and Egyptian officials, intellectuals, and scientists.

The Seminar will start at 19:00 hrs. at the BA Conference Center Small Theater.
