Ezbet Panayotti in a Play Reading at the BA

Posted on

Alexandria—The Reference Services Unit is holding its monthly play reading in Arabic on Wednesday, 29 July 2009. Participants will read Ezbet Panayotti (Panayotti Manor) by Mahmoud El-Saadany.

The play takes place at the eve of the sixth decade of the last century when Egypt was a British protectorate. Hassanein Beih buys Panayotti manor with a despicable price and builds luxurious housing compounds on it, for he plans to rent them to English soldiers. However, the cancellation of the 1936 Treaty, and the strong public insistence for the departure of English soldiers, put his project at stake.

The session starts at 16:00 hrs. at the BA Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library entrance.
