Etlala Literary Forum Seminars in August

Alexandria— Etlala Literary Forum which is hosted at the BA holds several events throughout August.

On Saturday, 1 August 2009, an open discussion with Writer Khaled El-Khamissi around his book Taxi takes place. First released in 2007 by Dar El-Shorouk, three issues have appeared so far, and an English translation was out in the market in 2009. Taxi is a collection of dialogues between the author and taxi drivers in Cairo, in which they discuss current issues, politics, economy, extremism, demonstrations, and their personal concerns.

Alexandrian Writer El-Shaimaa Hamed will be hosted on Saturday, 8 August 2009, in a discussion about her collection of stories Sabahan Maa Fengan Qahwa (Morning with a Cup of Coffee). The book was published by El-Kol literary group, with a fund from Culture Resource (Al Mawred Al Thaqafy) Organization.

Etlala is an unofficial literary gathering aspiring to promote its members’ literary skills, nurture the cultural movement, activate the role of young writers, encourage intellectual exchange, support emerging talents, and finally enhance communication with the society.

Seminars are held at 6:00 pm at the BA Meeting Room E, and are moderated by Writer Wassim Al-Maghraby.
