About the Forum

The Sixth International Forum of Writings and Inscriptions 2015 aims at:

  • Contributing effectively in the documentation and dissemination of Rock Art, in the Arab world and Africa, highlighting its role in the origin of writing.
  • Spreading knowledge about prehistoric studies.
  • Emphasizing the role of Africa as a cradle of first humans.
  • Exploring the cultural links between the various prehistoric cultures of the Arab and African countries and other regions of the world.
  • Strengthening the links between scholars and researchers specializing in prehistory of the Arab and African countries, and promoting relations and exchange between universities and institutions that share an interest in this field.
  • Building an international forum for scholars working on prehistory archaeology in the Arab World and  African countries.
  •  Sharing the results of the latest research, field studies, and archaeological expeditions carried out in the Arab and African countries, and discussing the current directions and problems in the studies of the prehistoric archaeology.
  •  Promoting scholarly publications in the field of prehistoric archaeology.

Topics & Themes

The Sixth International Forum of "History of Writings, Calligraphies, and Inscriptions in the World throughout the Ages is traditionally open to all areas concerning specified topics, and its goal is to seek for research papers focusing on the following themes:
1. Rock Art in the Arab world and Africa, highlighting its role in the origin of writing.
2. Migration of the first humans out of Africa.
3. Cultural Features of the Main prehistoric sites in the Arab and African countries.
4. World prehistoric cultures (similarities and differences).
5. Environmental Archeological Studies of the prehistoric sites in the Arab and African countries.
6. Geo-Archeology and Anthropology studies and prehistoric studies.
7. Dating techniques of the Prehistoric stone tools
8. Restoration of prehistoric sites
9. Megaliths in the Arab and African countries
10.  Museum collections and methods of preservation for prehistoric artefacts.

Symposium Halls

The symposium sessions will be held in three of the BA Conference Center halls; the 'Lectures Hall' (270 seats) and 'Small Theater' (242 seats), the Delegates Hall (100 seats)


Abstract Guidelines

Abstracts must be sent  in .doc format. Abstracts should be between 500 and 800 words in length with single line and normal character spacing and in 12pt Times New Roman (10pt for references) fonts. Each abstract should contain the following information:
o Title
o Name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s)
o Postal and email address of the author(s)

Full papers should be prepared according to Abgadyiat Guidelines.

Language of Abstracts

We are receiving all abstracts in Arabic, English or French Languages.


CV of Participants

All the participants of the Sixth International Forum of "History of Writings, Calligraphies, and Inscriptions in the World throughout the Ages" are kindly requested to send a short CV (half page).


Registration Fees

1) For participants with papers or posters:

- For Egyptian participants 500 L.E.

- Postgraduates Students (Masters and PhD) : 250 EGP


- For non-Egyptian participants: 150 $

For non-Egyptian Students (Masters and PhD):75$

BA will not afford accommodation for participants, yet it can provide special rates of 3, 4 and 5 stars hotels near from the library conference.

2) For participants without papers or posters:

- For Egyptian participants: 200 L.E
- For non-Egyptian participants: 75 $

Payment

Registration fees will be paid by cash at the Library of Alexandria during the Conference.

- Complete official Forum documentation.
- Daily Lunch
- Coffee breaks during the Forum program.
- Sightseeing Tour including lunch
- Official attendance letter from the Forum.
- Publishing only selected papers in an scientific journal.

30 January 2015: Sending the primary program of the Forum
20 February 2015: Sending the Final program of the Forum
01 May 2015: Sending the full paper
