Nanoscience and Nanotechnology: Discovering the Magic in Tiny Particles
From: 17 July 2011 To: 17 July 2011

This seminar will provide an introductory overview for the emerging field of nanometer scale science and technology.

In the lecture “Nanoscience and Nanotechnology: Discovering the magic in very tiny particles”, Dr. Mona Bakr will discuss the historical background and motivation of the study of nanometer scale phenomena and the strategies for controlling the structure of matter with nanometer scale precision. She will also explain the size-dependent properties (e.g., electrical, optical, and magnetic) that emerge at the nanometer scale and will introduce the real-world applications that utilize nanometer scale materials for cancer therapy and imaging, energy and solar desalination and so many other applications for enahncing our industry and develop our products.

The lecture will be held on Sunday, 17 July 2011, at 2:00 pm, at the BACC, the Lecture Hall.
