Professor Ahmed ElShiekh has a PhD in English Translation from the University of Alexandria.

Current position: Staff member-Emeritus- Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, Egypt.

Department: English Language & Literature.

Specialization: Linguistics & Translation.

University degrees: BA (1970), Diploma in Applied Linguistics (1979), Alexandria University.

* MA thesis title: A Register Approach to Translation (1981).

* PhD thesis title: A Study of Two Major Translations of the Holy Koran into English (1991).

 

Publications: Several research papers in national and international academic journals, the last of which issued February 2016 in The International journal of English Linguistics, Canada, entitled "Problems in English to Arabic Subtitles Translation of Religious Terms—Bruce Almighty and Supernatural on MBC & Dubai One: A Case Study.

 

A few books in the field of teaching translation and ESP, including a selection of Arabic poems by the author entitled سفر الأشعار (The Book of Poetry) and anthology of translated poems and short stories on war with an eye on advocating the culture of peace, a collective work with Alexandria English Department graduates, entitled The War Literature and the Culture of Peace.
