The President of Austria Expresses His Admiration of the BA Wishing It More Success

Alexandria— Dr. Ismail Seragedlin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, received on Sunday, 22 October 2007, HE Heinz Fischer, President of Austria and his accompanying delegation, in his visit to the BA, as one of the cultural and scientific landmarks not only in Egypt and the Middle East, but in the entire world.

Dr. Serageldin accompanied HE the President of Austria in a tour of the Library, its affiliated exhibitions and museums, and different services offered by the BA to members and visitors. The tour included the Manuscripts Museum, the Antiquities Museum, Impressions of Alexandria Exhibition, the Internet Archive, Culturama, the Planetarium Science Center, and the Alexploratorium.

During his tour of the BA, HE Heinz Fischer much-admired the Library and its major achievements in a short period of time, and wished the Library more success as it approaches it fifth anniversary. He added that the cooperation between the BA and the National Library of Austria should be effectuated during the coming period, referring to the major role played by the city of Alexandria in enriching human culture throughout history.

HE Heinz Fischer donated the BA a collection of valuable books, and Dr. Serageldin donated the Austrian President a copy of the "Engravings of Alexandria" from the Awad Collection.
