The BA Center for Coptic Studies organizes a webinar titled “A Brief Reading of the Byzantine Era in Egypt” on Monday, 28 December 2020, at 2:00 pm. It will be delivered by Professor Khaled Gharib, Head of the Greco-Roman Archaeology, Cairo University.
The webinar – the fourth in a series of events held by the Center for Coptic Studies – will tackle the history of Christianity, and how it entered Egypt, through Alexandria, by Mark the Evangelist. It will also discuss the Byzantine era in Egypt and its governance rules, as well as the global influence of the Egyptian Church in the Middle East and beyond. Moreover, it will highlight some of the Coptic vocabulary that is still being used, particularly with regard to the Coptic calendar.
